244 primary and secondary school students of Koroipita Settlement in Lautoka have received school bags with exercise books and stationery from the Foundation for the Education of Needy Children.
The Foundation’s Media Liason Officer Dwain Qalovaki says 45 volunteers had walked 416 kilometers around Viti Levu in August last year to raise the funds to sustain its child sponsorship program.
Last year a total of 1242 students were assisted with school essentials by the Foundation.
Qalovaki says that Foundation for the Education of Needy Children Fiji has received a sudden spike for 2018 having registered 3200 applications from almost every major municipality.
Meanwhile, $200 worth of stationery and school supplies have so far been given out to students.
